Do Istikhara for Anything/ Move On
One of the biggest misunderstandings people have about Istikhara is this:
You cannot do Istikhara for someone else.
Not for your mother.
Not for your sister.
Not even through a scholar.
Istikhara is a personal connection between you and Allah.
The dua itself is in first person; it’s about your decision, your heart, your life.
No third person can replace that sincerity.
How to Perform Istikhara Properly
Keep it simple, pure, and intentional.
- Pray 2 rakat nafl after:
- Zuhr
- Maghrib
- or Isha
- After completing the prayer:
- Recite Dua-e-Istikhara
- Then recite:
- Surah Al-Fatiha
- Ayat-ul-Kursi
- Surah Al-Ikhlas
- Send Darood Sharif
- Then make your dua from the heart:
“Ya Allah, if this person is written in my destiny and is better for me, then make the path easy and bring them into my life as my mehram. And if this person is not good for me or not my naseeb, then remove them from my heart and take me away from them.”
How Does Allah Answer Istikhara?
Here’s the truth most people don’t talk about:
Istikhara is NOT about dreams.
You might not see anything at all while sleeping, and that’s completely normal.
Instead, Allah responds in more real and powerful ways:
- Sometimes, a clear thought settles in your heart that’s your answer.
- Sometimes, things start becoming easy with that person; doors open naturally.
- Sometimes, your heart feels peaceful and content even in uncertainty.
- If that person is your naseeb, Allah gives you:
- Sabr (patience)
- Tawfeeq to keep making dua
- A quiet certainty that stays within you
And if that person is not written for you, then watch closely:
- Your heart slowly detaches without force
- Hidden truths get revealed
- Unexpected obstacles and hurdles appear
- You start feeling a natural distance and discomfort
That is your answer.
The Most Important Part: Move On
Istikhara is not meant to keep you stuck.
It’s meant to give you clarity, not confusion.
Once you’ve done Istikhara:
- Stop overthinking
- Stop chasing signs
- Stop waiting for dreams
Trust what unfolds.
Because when Allah closes a door,
it’s not rejection…
it’s protection.
Ending
Sometimes, the answer you’re asking for
is not what your heart wants…
but it’s exactly what your soul needs.
So do Istikhara with sincerity,
accept the outcome with trust,
and move forward with peace.
Because what is truly written for you…will never miss you.
